Whether your pet has fur, feathers, hair, or scales, be sure to spend some extra time with your two or four legged BFFL this week and celebrate National Pet Week (May 2 – 8).
The observance of National Pet Week was established jointly in 1981 by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the the Auxiliary to the AVMA. The goals set for the week are to promote responsible pet ownership, celebrate the human-animal bond, and promote public awareness of veterinary medicine. Check out the list of Pet Care Resources at the National Pet Week website.
If you’re looking for a dog or cat to join your household, consider adopting from one of the animal shelters in the area. Humane Haven Animal Shelter is located right in Bolingbrook. Dogs and cats that come to this shelter remain there and are well cared for by staff and volunteers until their forever family is found.
Come on in to the library and check our shelves for some books, magazines, and DVDs to help you care for and enjoy the pet you have now. We also have materials to help you select a new pet.
Our staff will be glad to help you.
