The Fountaindale Public Library District will be hosting its Second Annual Hobby Day on Sunday, January 24th from 2 pm to 4 pm (at the Bolingbrook facility). It’s a showcase for our staff to show off the hobbies that they love when they’re away from the workaday world of the library. Maybe, you can learn about a new hobby from one of us!
As a lead-up to the big day, we’re going to share on the various library blogs biographies of our staff and a little description of their hobbies from time to time. Now we’re going to learn about the ceramic painting hobby of Lynnette Hopwood, our Readers’ Services Librarian.
I have many different hobbies, but the one that I have been doing the longest is ceramics. Everything from creating something from clay to painting greenware that needs to be fired in a kiln to painting bisque. I have tried and done it all since I was 10 years old. My favorite is painting bisque. I have created a Christmas village that lights up, and every year I try to add another building or decoration. I have also painted a haunted house, a plaque, and several other fun items. I like to paint ceramics because I can be as creative as I like, and it is very relaxing.
